Adriatic Summer

Trubin says: "In this artwork I show my impressions and memories of the Adriatic. In the summer at noon, objects and natural elements there become so bright that they begin to turn into color spots. Their volumes become flatter, and their shapes become more amorphous."

"I pondered for a long time how to express these impressions on canvas, how to depict them using artistic means. While searching for a suitable plastic language for the painting, I saw Andre Derain's 'Cypresses.' I took Derain's techniques as a basis and adapted them to my work. I tried to paint using color spots, following one of the main principles of Fauvism — the primacy of color."

Dimensions: 35 cm × 50 cm.
